Human trafficking is an illegal and growing industry. Many people do not realize it still occurs today and the problems that arise. Human trafficking is not confined to one place, it’s all over the world. Women account for most of those victims.

The Philipines are attempting to fight against sex trafficking as well as many other countries. In 2003, the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act was created, making prostitution and sex slavery illegal. The United Nations must step up its efforts as the problem becomes more serious and prevalent. There are also local government and volunteer organizations such as the Philippine National Policewomen and the Anti Human trafficking. The United Nations Global Initiative to Fight Sex Trafficking arose from a mutual pledge by international powers to eliminate human trafficking, which is still one of the world’s most serious abuses of human rights presently.

Fortunately, I can not relate to this issue, which makes me even more curious about it. As I use TikTok every day I mostly see funny or memes, sometimes I will see something more serious. TikTok users are posting and sharing ways to prevent becoming a victim and what should you do in each situation. I found out that traffickers will put zip ties on your car or make a crack in your windshield to distract and abduct you. They will create a distraction and While there may never be a perfect solution, there is still a great deal everyone can do. By spreading awareness through social media and the classroom, more will know how to spot, prevent, and what they need to do in this situation. The Philippines wants to get rid of sex trafficking at the origin.
